North Acomb Farm in the heart of the Tyne Valley
Robin and Caroline Baty manage a traditional, bustling, family run farm.
Home to the Baty family since 1936, it’s almost 50 years since Caroline decided to put up a sign on the A69 to sell some surplus free range hens’ eggs, and lo and behold the farm shop was born!
Originally operating from their back door porch, it wasn’t long before the demand expanded to include green top milk and cream, sparked by customers observing their dairy herd. This led to a broadening range of fresh products, encompassing cakes, scones, and gradually, meats. Robin, with the aid and expertise of two seasoned butchers from the wholesale meat industry, honed his butchery skills. Customer demands inspired him to master various meat cuts and formulate his signature sausage and black pudding seasoning. Over the years, North Acomb Farm has flourished, broadening its offerings to include an extensive range of meats, baked goods, and more, attracting a devoted clientele from nearby and beyond.
The establishment proudly holds memberships in the Aberdeen Angus Cattle Society, Guild of Master Craftsmen, the National Federation of Meat and Food Traders, and FARMA.
In addition to its acclaimed produce, North Acomb offers premium livery services for horses and has recently extended its offering with the North Acomb Food Trailer, a delicious catering option you can hire for events.
A family run farm
Robin and Caroline Baty established North Acomb Farm Shop in 1978, and since its opening, they have built a reputation for championing high quality local produce. Sustainable farming and traceability are at the heart of everything they do, and you won’t get better provenance from Farm to table than from North Acomb Farm.
